AnyTone AT-D168UV

It is a dual band portable radio for the radio digital DMR (compatible with ETSI DMR Tier 1 and 2); of course traditional FM is also supported. Unlike many other DMR devices, the AT-D168UV offers a true VFO operation , including a configurable automatic repeater function, and is therefore much more suitable for radio amateurs than many other DMR devices. This means that a radio amateur can set a frequency and transmission parameters as usual, instead of having to rely solely on pre-programmed memory channels. Of course, the AnyTone AT-168UV also features channels of memory, and many: 4000. But it is not enough to rely on the pre-programmed channels. Another difference compared to other DMR devices is the possibility to change most (unfortunately not all) of the parameters of the device. It is therefore not necessary to rely on computer programming for every small change. However, the settings of all parameters (e.g. the DMR ID) are only possible with the corresponding PC software.

The AT-D168UV is the “little brother” of the popular D878UV. It also offers the ability to store up to 500,000 digital contacts and 10,000 talkgroups, which means that the complete list of all registered DMR users can be conveniently stored. Another feature is the roaming , or the ability to automatically select an accessible repeater based on a predefined list.

The other features of the D168UV are very extensive. In analog mode, functions such as DTMF, CTCSS and DCS , as well as coding with two-tone and 5-tone signals. A tone burst ( ringer ) of 1750 Hz is also available. Two buttons on the radio can be individually assigned to functions, allowing each user to set their own personal preferences. color display The 1.77” can be illuminated to various levels and is easily readable even in sunlight at the brightest setting. Compared to the AT-D878UV, the display indicators have been updated, they have a more modern look and should therefore ensure better readability. A bar graph is now available to display the signal strength.

Another feature to highlight is the ability to store multiple DMR IDs . This way you can use the device in a professional radio environment and later with a different ID in an amateur radio environment. Or several family members can share one device. Unlike the AT-D878UV, the AT-168UV does not have a GPS receiver and does not have Bluetooth. Position data can still be transmitted as a “fixed beacon”. However, the radio does have a USB-C socket that can be used for charging and programming. A WFM receiver is also available for VHF radio band . The transmission power can be adjusted in 4 steps from a minimum of 0.2 to 5 watts (VHF) or 4.5 watts (UHF). The headphone/microphone connection is compatible with Kenwood and Wouxun. The antenna connection is a recessed SMA connector, so you can use optional antennas from Diamond, for example, which end with “J” in the product designation. The programming cable is included in the scope of delivery and the programming software, largely identical to the CPS of the D878UV, can be requested free of charge.

*Requires firmware 3.04 or newer

Essential differences compared to its famous brother 878:

the AT-D168UV model IT DOES NOT HAVE GPS, IT DOES NOT HAVE BLUETOOTH, IT DOES NOT HAVE APRS, but It has NR Dsp, it has the C-USB port directly on the radio for charging, it has a 4-hour Analog/Digital RECORDER, it has the QDC1200, and the satellite.
