Single-cup headphone
The BM-17-Dynamic headset uses the BM-D dynamic element designed specifically for use in communications. This 500 ohm dynamic element works on most amateur radio platforms that require a Low-Z input impedance (usually between 150 ohm and 4k ohm). Radios requiring a high impedance input of 10k to 30k ohms require the use of an XT-1 impedance matching transformer. The BM-17-Dynamic has an operating frequency response of 120Hz - 10 kHz.
The BM-17-iC earpiece, using our iC electret element, was created for use with Icom radios. Working with Icom America, this item was created to eliminate low gain audio on some older, non-professional series radios. This item must be paired with the iC-AD-1-iC adapter (included) or AD-1. iC adapters do not have internal DC blocking capacitors, so the bias voltage can be passed allowing the electret iC element to function. The iC element has an operating frequency response of 35Hz - 12kHz.
The microphone audio for the BM-17 series terminates in a 1/8" mono jack while the headphone terminates in a 1/8" stereo jack (1/8" to 1/4" adapter included).
The arm is designed to be extremely flexible and is rotatable on the headphone speaker for optimal positioning in every situation.
Using the AD-1 series microphone adapters allows for easy interfacing with popular transceiver inputs. The adapter is 6-8" long and has a 1/8" female input jack for the headset microphone while the 1/4" female that comes out of the adapter is the PTT (push to talk) line for the Heil footswitch or hand switch. The 1/8" or 1/4" stereo jack plugs into the headphone jack on the front panel of the transceiver.
