DV D-Star Mode (Digital Voice + Low Speed Data Sending)
Both devices are compatible with the JARL “D-Star” protocol and are able to operate in DV mode thanks to the AMBE® codec. It is also possible to send data at 950bps (approximately) simultaneously with digital voice transmission.
List of D-Star Repeaters
The ID-E880 can store up to 300 channels/callsigns in the repeater list. Each channel stores the repeater frequency, duplex shift, repeater callsign, gateway callsign and RPT1 (uplink primary repeater) setting.
Sending geographic coordinates and GPS A mode for simplified use of D-PRS operations
By using an external GPS receiver or the optional GPS microphone, HM-189GPS for the IC-E80D, both units can display their geographic coordinates on the display, which can be sent to the other party who can see them on his or her display. (GPS data reception is only possible when a GPS receiver or GPS microphone is not connected to the receiving unit.) The IC-E80D and ID-E880 send their coordinates when the PTT button is pressed or at programmed intervals (from 5 seconds to 30 minutes). In addition, the “GPS A” mode helps simplify D-PRS operations to send your position data to an APRS server.
DR (D-Star Repeater) mode for easy use
The new function in DR mode makes accessing the D-Star repeater easier. When the GW (gateway) parameter is set to AUTO, you only need to perform two steps:
